A coffee house in the heart of Abu Dhabi, inspiration is drawn from the Baobab tree (monkey-bread tree), which is known to be symbolic of life, magic, and happiness.
Inspired by the numerous deserts of the UAE, the cafe design is set in tones that depict the layering of sands. A minimal approach, where texture and form become the main players of the space, simulating the natural earth textures around us.
Located in Alserkal Avenue, the iconic cultural community in Dubai, the design embodies a duality between the softness of the brand, and the industrial look of its context.
Society’s design focuses on defining a spatial approach where the main kitchen is concealed within a hidden central volume. The remaining negative space defined allows for a flow of the circulation to wrap around the central core.
Toplum’s architecture features clean lines, shapes and rhythms of patterns reflecting the simplicity and geometry of the Mediterranean culture. The spatial approach comes together by respecting the existing volume and focuses on enhancing the verticality of its 6-meter-high volume.
