Inspired by the numerous deserts of the UAE, the cafe design is set in tones that depict the layering of sands. A minimal approach, where texture and form become the main players of the space, simulating the natural earth textures around us.

Aptitude finds itself located in the Louvre Abu Dhabi. While the surrounding focuses on water and reflection as a main inspiration, Aptitude focuses on the UAE’s core element, the grains of sand. It explores textures, tonalities, and materiality through the use of rammed earth as a main material.

The seating contrasts the existing layer of green with its sharp terracotta hue, however, it remains blended within the landscape and integrates with its surroundings.
